A classic dining chair with armrests that's characterised by a simple, almost anonymous design. Once again, the chair's design is clearly inspired by Shaker craftsmanship. The chair is closely associated with Wegner's CH36 chair and is also frequently used for conferences, churches and the like. The chair provides excellent back support and the seat is beautifully hand woven from specially made paper cord and is available in either in unbleached/natural or black. Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1962.

HISTORY

Designed for Carl Hansen & Son in 1962.
CH36 (without armrest) and CH37 (with armrest) were conceived together with Wegner's solid wood dining table, CH327.

DESCRIPTION

The CH36 is a functional and light dining chair whose stringent lines indicate Hans J. Wegner's heavy influence by the Shaker tradition.
The armrests on CH37 are a good example of Hans J. Wegner's honest, straightforward approach to furniture design as the joints where the armrests meets the front leg are clearly visible and an integral part of the chair's expression.

It can easily be used on its own or matched together with CH36 around a table.
It has previously also been used with great success in public meeting areas and churches.

It is made from solid hardwood and paper cord.If you would prefer an alternative upholstery or wood for this product, please submit an enquiry and we will respond as soon as possible.

THE DESIGNER

As a driving force behind 'Danish Modern', Hans J. Wegner helped change the general public's view of furniture in the 1950s and 1960s. His passion for designing chairs, more than 500 of them, is recognized worldwide and reflected in his title 'the Master of the Chair'. He is famous for integrating perfectly executed joints with exquisite shapes and combining them with a constant curiosity for materials and deep respect for wood and its natural characteristics. His designs furnish minimalism with organic and natural softness.
