A clean-cut dining chair that's great to sit in, the design of which clearly shows how Wegner was inspired by Shaker craftsmanship. The chair is also a popular choice for conference and church use. The seat is beautifully hand woven in sturdy paper cord, either in unbleached/natural or black. Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1962.
Designed for Carl Hansen & Son in 1962.
CH36 (without armrest) and CH37 (with armrest) were designed together with Hans J. Wegner's solid wood dining table, CH327.
The CH36 is a functional and light dining chair whose stringent lines indicate Hans J. Wegner's influence by the Shaker tradition.
It can easily be used on its own or matched together with CH37 around a table.
It has previously also been used with great success in public meeting areas and churches.
It is made from solid hardwood and paper cord.
As a driving force behind 'Danish Modern', Hans J. Wegner helped change the general public's view of furniture in the 1950s and 1960s. His passion for designing chairs, more than 500 of them, is recognized worldwide and reflected in his title 'the Master of the Chair'. He is famous for integrating perfectly executed joints with exquisite shapes and combining them with a constant curiosity for materials and deep respect for wood and its natural characteristics. His designs furnish minimalism with organic and natural softness.
