Pair of Pierre Paulin Purple Tulip Chairs by Artifort - Vintage

The Little Tulip Chair was originally designed by Pierre Paulin in 1965 and since then has become somewhat of a design icon still being manufactured today. Inspired by the flower, the chair has a Tulip-esque silhouette with a petal shaped seat which curves to create armrests.

This pair are upholstered in a purple leather and both sit on a circular base allowing them to rotate 360 degrees.

Whether in an office setting or in the home, these timeless chairs will add a pop of colour to any space and will remain true design classics.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Paulin (1927-2009) grew up in France and studied at the École Camondo design school in Paris, where a teacher urged him to join furniture designer Marcel Gascoin’s workshop. He served as an apprentice and learned his trade before travelling to Scandinavia and the United States. He cited Ray and Charles Eames and George Nelson among his influences and, like Nelson, considered himself a functionalist who added “two little drops of poetry” to his work.
